Marbalease® Polymer concrete release

Get Product Bulletin in pdf Format

Marbalease® Polymer Concrete Release is a fast-drying very liquid polishing compound made from a blend of hydrocarbon and microcrystalline waxes. It is particularly recommended for use as a low cost release agent in applications with polymer concrete (polycrete or GRC) on metal or polyester molds. May be used on heated molds. May also be used in general FRP or GRP applications where surface cosmetics are not a prime concern. May also be used with traditional concrete casting using Portland Cement.

PREPARATION OF MOLD SURFACE
Porous molds (i.e., plaster or wood) must first be sealed with lacquer or similar coating. A good surface on plaster may be obtained with automobile type primer-sealers and lacquers. Plaster molds must be completely dried.

Mold surface should be thoroughly clean and free of other parting agents, especially those containing silicone, prior to application of Marbalease® Polymer Concrete Release.

APPLICATION OF Marbalease® Polymer concrete release
Mix well before use as wax solids have a natural tendency to clump. Use of a T-swing mixer on an air-drive inserted through the pour spout is an effective method of mixing. Using a brush or a clean dry rag, apply MarbaleaseŽ Polymer Concrete Release to surface of the mold.  Leave as is or wipe away excess with a clean dry rag as process requires.  Marbalease® Polymer Concrete Release is not normally buffed after application.

Marbalease® Polymer Concrete Release will attain a hazy appearance when dry that can be seen on the mold surface.

REMOVING PART FROM MOLD
The best procedure for separating the part from the mold depends on the size and shape of the part. In most cases the part can be lifted from the mold after loosening around the edges. A jet of air between the part and the mold at the edge is sometimes useful.

On large curved parts it may be necessary to first tap over the surface with a rubber mallet. A very strong blast of air (or a few squirts with a CO2 extinguisher) will free very rigid parts that cannot be flexed.
