Partall® One-Coat is a high
viscosity PVA film-forming, water-based solution of
solvent-resistant, water-soluble materials that is
recommended as a temporary protective coating or parting
film for making thermoset composite parts. Dry film may
be removed from substrate by peeling or washing with
warm water. Not for use in processes in which water may
come in contact with coating.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Partall® One-Coat is ready
to use as received, but may be diluted with clean water
to suit application method. Apply by dipping part or
using a brush, roller or spraygun.
Apply Partall® One-Coat to form a solid, integrated
surface without runs or sags. Film will turn white if
sprayed but will dry to a clear coat when dry. On
vertical surfaces, apply until just before film begins
to run. If applying multiple coats, be certain that
previous coat has dried completely before proceeding.
When using as a mold release agent, dry film thickness
must be at least 2-4 mils on new or reconditioned
polyester molds and 1-2 mils on seasoned molds. One
gallon will cover approximately 500 square feet.
Drying time per coat is approximately 60 minutes but may
vary due to external factors such as humidity and
ambient air temperatur. Film must be completely dry
before making parts. Surface should be smooth and glossy
when dry - do not proceed if film feels tacky.
As a check on application technique: a properly applied
coat of Partall® One-Coat can be easily lifted as a
solid sheet from mold surface when dry and will be free
of pinholes. A dull film may result from insufficient
coverage and contain pinholes.
PVA films like Partall®
One-Coat are normall applied over mold release waxes
such as Partall® Paste #2 or Formula Five® Mold
Release Wax when making composites parts.
Porous molds (i.e., plaster or wood) must first be sealed with lacquer or similar coating. A good surface on plaster may be obtained with automobile type primer-sealers and lacquers. Plaster molds must first be thoroughly dried.
